Violet Queen potatoes
Potatoes from the grocery store here in Quebec are delicious. But I couldn't resist a bag of sprouting Violet Queen potatoes at a local nursery. I love deep purple potatoes and often they don't have purple flesh, just purple skins.
But this variety promised both. And I have an abundance of old hay to hill them up with. There were two more bags at the nursery, but I will resist getting them, too. I'm going to have more than enough vegetables and fruits without too many potatoes, too.
And I should also mention I acquired red onion sets, too. We'll eat them as fresh young onions, I rationalized.
