I’m a wildlife-friendly gardener. Nice that the local mama bear and her three cubs like lettuce!

Here in Asheville, we have urban bears.  Our resident mama bear has an ear tag.  She has three young cubs who enjoy playing up in the oaks in front and behind our house.

The cubs had finished playing up front, and mama and her brood were headed back towards the ravine forest.

But, mama noticed my nice heads of lettuce as she passed by and chomped on each clump!  And the babies joined in.

What fun!
