An abundant vegetable bed

Moving back and forth from two vegetable gardens delays posts.

But my newly created container (made of white cedar by our friend Jean) and enriched with composted cow manure is growing amazing vegetables this summer.  Lettuces, beets (that I never thought would take, as they were bought as small crowded seedlings as an experiment), young kale and Swiss chard and chives are all looking good.

Totally amazing to harvest this young golden beet for dinner this evening.  The young seedlings were so puny (and I know better as a gardener to transplant beets), but... this has had a good outcome!
