Reshaping an ornamental landscape

Note: this is a test post to see if Follow.it automatically deletes ads after upgrading to a paid level (it seems like quite a modest cost, I think, as I don't have a huge number of followers).  Supposedly, it also allows a photo and sending from me, not Follow.it.  We'll see.

View through the solarium window

We’re continuing to tweek our landscape here in Quebec away from ornamentals towards natives (deleting more Norway maples and volunteer lilacs).

Lilacs are nice, but we don’t need so many of them! Cutting back a bush honeysuckle opened up a view from the downstairs through the solarium windows, out to what we’re calling the orchard and meadow area. Nice.

I’m not so happy with removing trees, but Norway maples are not a good thing. We’re keeping the main ones for now.  We'll probably remove most of the rest over time, but I experience landscape dissonance with too much change.  Going from shade to full sun, even if we're planning to create a woodland there is a bit shocking.
