Last signs of summer

We saw a female ruby-throated hummingbird visiting cypress vine flowers yesterday in the Children's Garden.  She was a late straggler, to be sure.

October 18th is the last date we're seen hummingbirds in the Upstate of South Carolina, a couple of years ago.

And there were monarchs flitting by, as well.

  1. I've seen a couple in the past few mornings here. They're hovering over the pineapple sage and Black & Blue salvia. Monarchs flit past me at work still. I'm hoping they make it back to Mexico safely.

  2. Last week was my last sighting here near Chicago.

  3. Hi Lisa,
We have still had a couple hummingbirds here, Charlie saw one yesterday. I guess we will leave the feeders up a little longer. The one yesterday was feeding on my basil flowers.
Super meeting you the other day (or was it a couple weeks ago?? oh how time goes by)
